Bruria Kaufman
American theoretical physicist (1918–2010)
Bruria Kaufman was a distinguished theoretical physicist who made significant contributions to various fields of physics. Born in 1918, she went on to become a prominent figure in the scientific community, passing away in 2010. Kaufman's work had a notable impact on the development of theoretical physics, particularly in the areas of general relativity and statistical physics.
Kaufman's research collaborations and individual work led to important advancements in several key areas. She worked alongside notable scientists, including John von Neumann and Harry Lipkin, to study the Mössbauer effect. Additionally, her application of spinor analysis to rederive the partition function of the two-dimensional Ising model built upon the earlier work of Lars Onsager. Kaufman also contributed to Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity, further solidifying her position as a leading theoretical physicist of her time.
