Edmund Engelman

Edmund Engelman was a renowned photographer and engineer of Jewish Austrian descent, born in 1907 in Vienna. His work spanned multiple disciplines, with a focus on photography as an art form. Engelman's most notable work includes his photographs of the home and workplace of Sigmund Freud, captured at Berggasse 19 in Vienna in 1938. This series of photographs is particularly significant, as it was taken shortly before the Freud family's escape to England. Engelman later immigrated to the United States, where he continued to work as a photographer until his death in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of captivating and historically important images.
