L. Rafael Reif

L. Rafael Reif is a Venezuelan American academic administrator and electrical engineer, born in 1950. His career has been marked by significant contributions to the field of technology, with a particular focus on academic leadership. Reif's professional experience is closely tied to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he has held various prominent positions.

Reif served as the president of MIT from 2012 to 2022, preceding his presidency with a seven-year tenure as provost from 2005 to 2012. Prior to his role as provost, he was the head of MIT's Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) department from 2004 to 2005.
